With the wildlife watching season in full swing, the Living Seas Centre and RSPB reserve, on the headland are reporting plenty to see on our wonderful coastline. Bottlenose Dolphins can now be seen from the headland along with Grey Seals which regularly come ashore, rest, digest food, and moult their fur.
With, Puffins, Kittiwakes, Razorbills all in abundance, plus of course the amazing Gannets which can be seen diving into the clear waters from a height to catch their daily food, there is plenty to see.
Puffins only come ashore for a short time each year to nest in cracks and crevices on the cliffs, before heading out to their true home, the open sea, so now is a great time to come and see these amazing birds. Whether it is sitting on the cliff tops watching, or paddling around the amazing rock pools, there is always something to see and do. The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust regularly run events to help watch these amazing animals. For more details visit www.ywt.org.uk/events.
